ST. PETERSBURG - Authorities are investigating the shooting of a married Pinellas couple Wednesday night. The husband was killed and his wife was critically wounded.
The victims have been identified and deputies say the incident could possibly be drug related.
Detectives say a white Lexus drove up to the couple’s home, located at 2533 68 th Ave. N, and two black males got out of the vehicle, then went inside.
Others were present when the suspects shot 58-year-old David J. Paonessa and his wife, 66-year-old Jane Bryant around 7:30 p.m.
The two suspects fled the home.
Both victims were sent to different hospitals. Paonessa was pronounced dead. Bryant is being treated for gunshot wounds.
The other witnesses who were inside the house are being interviewed.
Officials say there will be an autopsy.
No one is in custody at this time.
