ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. - Diners at The Hurricane Seafood Restaurant near Pass-A-Grille got some unexpected excitement Saturday evening.
According to St. Pete Beach police, 57-year-old Kenneth Hearn was attempting to park in front of the restaurant when he claims his foot slipped and pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake.
The car accelerated over the curb stopper into a patio dining table.
One male patron was taken to the hospital with possible head injuries.
Police suspected Hearn was under the influence of alcohol, He took a breathalyzer test at the scene and was soon after taken into custody by police.
Hearn's wife was in the car with him at the time of the crash. She was not injured.
The incident is still under investigation.
