DUNEDIN, Fla. - He's been the captain of his own ship for 35 years. As owner and operator of "By Request Charters," Captain Dan Adams has been taking tourists fishing or on sunset cruises for a long time. But the reality of the oil spill is creeping up on him.
"My phone only rings with cancelations these days," said Captain Dan.
He said the oil might as well be here already because tourists believe it is and the damage to his business has been done. He said, "I thought I'd retire, sell the business, buy a boat and cruise around for the rest of my days. But how do you sell something with no value?"
Captain Dan file his claim with BP on Monday. He is expecting to hear back from the oil giant on Thursday.
