DUNEDIN, Fla. - Pinellas County deputies have arrested a Dunedin man they say tied up and gagged a 12-year-old girl and then had her pose for pictures. Detectives are concerned there may be other victims.
They say Steven J. Andrews committed the crime on three different occasions between August 2011 and this month.
Andrews agreed to pay the victim $100 to dress up in various outfits and "bound and gagged her and then took photographs of her," according to a sheriff's statement.
The mother of the victim contacted authorities after her daughter told her what had happened.
Detectives are concerned that other crimes may have been committed. They say Andrews had contact with minors "through part time employment at the Child's Nest Daycare Center located on Jackson Springs Boulevard" in Town 'N' Country, and "as a volunteer for Pinellas County Schools, volunteering as a Drum Major Instructor both at Dunedin Middle and Dunedin High School."
Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Crimes Against Children Unit at 727-582-6200.
Andrews was arrested Tuesday night and charged with the crime of Sexual performance by a Child. He was being held on $30,000, according to jail records.
