Cold night shelters open for next three days

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. - With a hard freeze watch weather alert extending across the Tampa Bay area, Hillsborough and Pinellas counties are activating their cold night shelters for the next three evenings, starting Sunday night.

In Pinellas there are shelters for adults and families with children, expected to open at approximately 6 p.m on December 12, 13 and 14.

They will be accepting guests all night long, and close in the morning at 6 a.m. Shelter guests are provided a hot evening meal, a warm safe place to spend the night and breakfast the following morning.

In Hillsborugh, four shelters have opened for the night.

This shelter opens at 6 p.m. and is for adults and families.

Most shelters will close tomorrow around 7 a.m.

Donations

The Bethune Park Rural Shelter and the Brandon Community Center are accepting donations of shelter supplies, such as disinfectant wipes, disposable cups, coffee, creamer, paper plates, plastic utensils, and sugar. Those wishing to donate supplies should contact each individual shelter.

Meals for the shelters are provided through Metropolitan Ministries. Those wishing to donate non-perishable items should contact Metropolitan Ministries at (813) 209-1000.
