PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. - A 14-year-old has been arrested twice within the last six months for sexually assaulting two kids from separate counties.
The second time occurred after authorities placed him in a group home due to the first attack.
Now, one of the mothers of the alleged victims says she's outraged that the suspected attacker is still around other kids.
She says her 8-year-old son was attacked in the bathroom at Hunsinger Elementary School in Clearwater.
She says the alleged attacker told her son, "Come into the bathroom with me. You have to listen to me because I'm bigger than you and you're suppose to listen to what the big kids tell you to do."
The victim's mother says she was shocked to hear that same 14-year-old is now facing similar charges in Hillsborough County.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, they arrested the teen on Aug. 26 for Lewd and Lascivious Molestation of a child between the ages of 10 and 13.
"This is the second time in 2 months...I think he should be locked up. I don't think he should be around other kids."
But the Pinellas County State Attorney's Office is in a bind.
According to the State Attorneys Office, after the first alleged attack at Hunsinger, the Juvenile Justice System kicked in and placed the teen in a Hillsborough County group home. That's where the second assault allegedly occurred.
So they are now once again try to figure out what to do, with consideration for the attacker's age and his mental infirmity.
For the mother of the alleged 8-year-old victim, protecting the rights of one child at the expense of other children, just doesn't make sense.
"What are we waiting for," she said.
"For something worse to happen? Where maybe he doesn't leave a witness around next time?"
