PASCO COUNTY, Fla. - A candlelight vigil was held in Pasco County last night to help raise awareness for domestic violence.
On average, three women die every day as a result of domestic violence. One in four will be a victim at some point.
Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said it's not just one person or family that is impacted, but the entire community.
"It's events like this tonight that we hope to educate the public, educate our daughters, educate our sisters so that they realize that if they're ever caught in these types of situations... they have to get out as quick as possible," Nocco said.
The sheriff's office said the night was to honor and remember those affected -- and to remind the community that more needs to be done.
