PASCO COUNTY, Fla. - Pasco County Sheriff's deputies arrested two men in connection with a murder on I-75 near Wesley Chapel Saturday night.
An off-duty deputy driving a marked car spotted a car parked on the side of the interstate near State Road 54 just before 7 p.m. Saturday night. He pulled over and saw a man in the front passenger's seat with severe stab wounds, deputies said Sunday.
Two men, Justin Phillip Gonzalez, 22, of Tennessee, and Jesse Michael Blair, 23, of Lakeland, were both in the car and arrested. Deputies said the two men took turns stabbing the victim while they were in the car and told deputies they planned to kill him because he was a "snitch."
"It was a very violent death this man endured," Nocco said during a press conference late Saturday.
The victim was identified as Leon Mascorro, 20, of Bristol, Florida.
Traffic on I 75 was reduced to one lane for several hours while deputies investigated. All lanes opened by 1:30 a.m.
Gonzalez and Blair are being charged with 1st degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder and were transported to the Land O' Lakes Detention Center.
