PASCO COUNTY - UPDATE: Southbound I-75 reopened shortly before 9 a.m.
PREVIOUS: Southbound traffic on I-75 shut down in Pasco County, near the Hernando County line following a major accident involving three semi trucks and several vehicles Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the scene where two crashes occurred and at least one driver was been flown to the hospital , officials say.
The crash happened near mile marker 293 around 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Three semis, including a Walgreens truck and a Lifestyles fitness truck, were involved in crashes with several vehicles.
Pasco County Rescue and Hernando County Fire Rescue are at the scene, where at least one victim man was extricated from a truck and he sustained serious injuries.
Troopers are investigating the crash and working with crews to clear the roadways, which is expected to take one to two hours.
All southbound traffic is being diverted onto SR-50 at exit 301.
