PORT RICHEY, Fla. - A Port Richey man is accused of ambushing an 82-year-old woman he was acquainted with inside her home and raping her last weekend.
Officials say 41-year-old Thomas Herris Sigler III, who lives across the street from the victim, had dinner with her at a local restaurant Sunday night.
The woman told authorities that after dinner, she told Sigler she was going home and going to bed. She says he was not invited to come to her home, but when she walked into her bedroom, she found Sigler standing next to her bed.
She said Sigler took his clothes off, then walked over to her and removed her clothes without her permission.
She says she was scared to resist for fear of getting hurt.
She told officials she was held down against her will and raped. She also suffered bruising on her chest and arms after getting hit in the head and arms.
When he was finished, he went to the victim’s bathroom, then went into her purse and took $450.
He fled on foot.
The following day, the victim called police and was interviewed by detectives.
Sigler was arrested on Wednesday and he has charged with sexual battery and kidnapping. He is in jail on a $150,000 bond.
