PASCO COUNTY, Fla. - The writing portion of the FCAT has been canceled at several Pasco County schools due to possible sever weather today, according to a release from the District School board of Pasco County.
The school board requested permission from the Florida Department of Education to delay the FCAT writing exams scheduled statewide for today following a tornado watch issued for several Bay area counties Tuesday morning.
The department approved and the district’s Office for Accountability, Research and Measurement told schools that they could choose to test tomorrow if they hadn’t begun testing already.
Schools choosing to postpone were instructed to notify the office, and as of 10:30 Tuesday morning, six elementary schools have decided to test on Wednesday instead.
The schools are Chasco, Gulf Highlands, Moon Lake, Pine View, Richey and Woodland elementary schools.
