One man dead, another critically injured after crashing into tree on ATV

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. - One man is dead and another is critically injured after the driver’s ATV crashed into a tree early Saturday morning, Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the Sheriff’s Office report, 23-year-old Zankhrill Phillips was traveling north on Kelly Road with passenger 21-year-old Thomas Carmack.

Phillips failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway near Aubrey Avenue and ended up driving off into the east shoulder and into a tree.

Phillips and Carmack were ejected from the ATV.

Phillips died on the scene of the crash. Carmack was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center with critical injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
