NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - School leaders placed River Ridge High and Middle Schools on a precautionary lockdown due to a suspicious person near the school.
It has since been lifted. Initial reports said the person may have had a rifle.
The person was spotted after school dismissed at 1:55 p.m., but those students and adults there for after-school activities were kept inside.
The Pasco County Sheriff had several deputies on the ground and its chopper in the air searching for the suspect.
