NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - Troopers are investigating the cause of a crash involving an SUV and a pedestrian late Thursday night.
Florida Highway Patrol confirms a 53-year-old woman was killed in the area of State Road 54 west of Barker Drive at 11:40 p.m.
The unidentified person was heading northbound and walked directly into the path of the SUV driver outside of a designated crosswalk. She was hit and died at the scene.
No other information is being released about the victim until troopers make contact with her relatives. The driver was not hurt.
