NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - "You are going to stay on the line with me, because I really want to get this on the record."

That's what New Port Richey Mayor said to a 911 operator after his wife Kimberly was arrested.

Listen to the 911 call here

An upset Scott McPherson called 911 after his wife Kimberly was arrested.

"..And I'm your mayor and this doesn't amount to jack-[expletive]"

Deputies say McPherson and his wife were at Grille 54 in Trinity early Monday morning and they say both were drunk.

During a routine check of the night spot, a deputy says the Mayor told him he wanted to file a report.

The deputy says McPherson, who is also an attorney, then became agitated and verbally abusive, yelling "Do you know who I am? I am the Mayor of New Port Richey."

Deputies say Kimberly McPherson soon came outside and was yelling for them to leave her husband alone.

Authorities say the couple then got into an argument. Deputies say Kimberly slapped Scott across the face. She was then arrested for domestic battery.

Following his wife's arrest, the Mayor made several calls to 911.

"I would like you to call Sheriff White and ask him to call me on my cell phone please. He's a friend of mine," McPherson said in one call.

He also made several serious allegations against the arresting deputy.

"I want you to hang on the line with me. I'm actually concerned about my wife's well being. She was assaulted, and battered by the deputy, at least one. And I'm actually concerned that she may be sexually assaulted at this point."

The Sheriff's Office says they have not received any complaint against one of their deputies.

Attempts to reach the couple at their home and office were unsuccessful, but Scott McPherson released a statement. He apologized for his behavior toward some, but not all of the deputies.

"The conduct of one deputy did not justify my inexcusable comments to the rest of you," the statement said.

"I will not resign the last 10 months of my term. Instead I will do everything possible to regain your trust and respect," the statement went on to say.

Mayor McPherson's complete statement is below

As has been widely reported, my loving wife of 27 years, Kimberly, was arrested on a simple domestic battery charge outside a restaurant earlier this week. Many things have been reported about my views concerning the arresting officer, however, I have done a poor job of taking responsibility for my actions that evening.

As for these actions, I want to apologize to the residents of New Port Richey, including my fellow council members and city staff, for my behavior. You deserve far better, and I will not resign the last ten months of my term. Instead, I will do everything possible to regain your trust and respect. I want to apologize to my friends, family, and clients, and tell you that Kimberly and I cannot thank you enough for the dozens of emails, texts, and phone calls of support. I want to apologize to the Deputies that responded following the arrest, and tried to calm me down. The conduct of one deputy did not justify my inexcusable comments to the rest of you. I respect what you do, and the stress and danger associated with your profession. To all of you just mentioned, I promise that my actions in public and private will never resemble what took place this week.

Finally, and of greatest importance to me, I want to publicly apologize to my wife, Kimberly. I will do everything in my control to make this up to you and be a better man. You mean more to me than any political office, or so-called "prestige" associated with community positions I have held. You did not deserve any of this, and I am so sorry. Please forgive me.

Scott McPherson
