LAND O' LAKES, Fla. - A mother and her 14-year-old daughter were flown to a local hospital after being shot when they walked in on a home invasion, Pasco County Sheriff deputies say.
The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at a house on Valdez Lane in Land O’ Lakes.
According to deputies, the two had come over to the residence after a friend inside the house called saying she could hear noises coming from the living room.
People who live at the home didn't want to speak to ABC Action News when we approached the house, instead some of the residents were wearing t-shirts over their heads.
Deputies say the mother daughter live in the area and were not far from the house involved.
When the pair arrived, they interrupted a home invasion that was in progress.
The suspects open fire on the two, shooting them on the porch.
A neighbor named Sharon said she heard arguing earlier in the morning, about someone yelling to return "stuff" and then heard gunshots.
Both mother and daughter were flown to Saint Joseph’s Hospital with gunshot wounds to their abdomens.
There were around seven people in the house at the time of the invasion.
Deputies believe two-three male suspects were involved. They say they are looking for the men they describe as having slim muscular builds.
