LAND O' LAKES - Deputies say a man was burned in an explosion at a home in Pasco county.  Investigators believe the garage was being used as a laboratory to make synthetic marijuana.

Just before 7pm, deputies responded to a call of a water heater explosion at 24349 Breezy Oak Court.

Instead of a water heater, deputies say an investigation revealed an operation, possibly to make 'spice,' or synthetic marijuana in the garage.

An unidentified man received burns to his back and arm in the explosion, and was taken to the hospital.

It is unknown if the chemicals in the 'spice' are illegal, but a sample will be sent to a lab to determine if there are any banned substances.
