A 17-year-old male was arrested for allegedly leaving the scene of the crash and driving without a valid driver’s license, Sgt. Larry Kraus said.
Troopers say that all four teens, who were all 16 or younger, were travelling southbound on Hicks Road in their Honda Sports Trac ATV early Saturday morning when they pulled out in front of the suspect’s truck that was traveling westbound on Denton Avenue.
The suspect’s 1992 Ford Ranger crashed into the ATV and the teens were rushed to the hospital while the suspect fled, Kraus said.
Three victims, 13,15, and 12 were transported to Tampa General Hospital and a 16-year-old was transported to another trauma center.
The oldest teen who was listed in the worse condition is now recovering and doing better, according to his parents.
In addition to the suspect’s charges, he received a traffic ticket for driving to fast.
The investigation for the case continues.
