HUDSON, Fla. - Two people were killed in a U.S. Hwy 19 crash after an 81-year-old man possibly driving under the influence collided into their vehicle Sunday night, authorities said.

Albert Friedman was driving north on US Hwy 19 in center lane, passing other traffic.

Bridgette Ewing, 46, was also headed northbound along with her passenger, Vincent Discristo, 47, in the outside lane.

Friedman swerved to the right and into the back of Ewing’s vehicle. Both vehicles spun and traveled onto the eastern shoulder of the roadway.

Both vehicles flipped over and hit a light pole.

Ewing and Discristo died at the scene of the crash. Friedman was seriously injured and taken to Bayonet Pointe Hospital.

Charges are pending and this incident remains under investigation.
