HOLIDAY - A boy who wandered away from his home in Holiday was found deceased in a nearby pond.
Deputies believe the mother of 1-year-old Trent Wayman was asleep when he left their Holiday home, located at 1654 Paragon Place.
But Cheryl Reel, an aunt to the deceased child, says that shouldn't have happened.
"I talked to his mother when I first got here...I don't care if you work third shift or not, you should still be able to stay awake with your kirds," she said.
The baby was last seen in the home about 3:00 p.m. Wednesday and he was reported missing just before 6:00 p.m. by the family.
Crews searched around the neighborhood for the child's body. He was found later that night in a small body of water directly in front of his home.
Preliminary information indicate that the boy drowned.
An autopsy has been planned to determine the cause of death.
He would have turned two years old next month.
There are no charges at this point.
The investigation continues.
