One man was arrested in Pasco County on Friday morning, after an armed robbery in Ybor City near Tampa. A woman who helped the suspect was arrested for aiding and abetting. Two robbery suspects remain on the loose.
Patrick Punion, 21, was arrested Friday morning, after law enforcement officers from Tampa, Pinellas County and Pasco County tracked him to a home in Holiday.
A woman at the home, Charquisha Arline, 23, was also arrested and charged with aiding and abetting the suspect. (Watch video of the arrest in player above).
Tampa Police said it started after 1:30 in the morning, when Ryan Webb, 29, was walking through a vacant lot on the southeast corner of N. 15th Street and E. 15th Avenue, just three blocks from his home in Ybor City.
Three males approached Webb, two with guns and third had a baton. They demanded the victim's cell phone and money from his wallet. The three suspects took the items and ran.
A short time later, a second victim who lives nearby, Culten Westfall, 19, was walking through the vacant lot and saw a silver Chevrolet Malibu following him. Two suspects got out and began running toward the victim. As the victim fled on foot, his cell phone dropped out of his waist band. The victim saw one of the suspects pick up his phone.
Around 4:30 a.m., as a detective on the robbery cases was heading home, he spotted a silver Chevy Malibu speed by him on I-275 northbound. It matched the description of the suspect vehicle of the two armed robberies from earlier in the night.
The detective called for patrol officers to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle began to flee. The detective engaged in pursuit on Fowler Ave and the pursuit continued into the county.
Air service was able to engage and followed the pursuit through Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas Counties.
Punion abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot at US 19 in Tarpon Springs. Pinellas S.O., Pasco S.O., Tarpon Springs PD assisted TPD in the pursuit and apprehension of the suspect in Holiday of Pasco County.
Punion was charged by Pasco County with fleeing to elude, and Tampa detectives are interviewing him to determine if there is a connection to the Ybor City robbery.
