PASCO COUNTY - A Dade City fireworks show got canceled after a firework blew up in a man’s face at a July 4th celebration Wednesday night, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.
The incident occurred at the Dade City Fairgrounds at a the Fourth of July Fireworks show.
The victim, a 49-year-old man, worked for the fireworks company that was putting on the show. A mortar went off right after clearing the launch tube and blew up. The man received burns and shrapnel wounds on his face and hands.
He was flown to a Bay area hospital. His injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
The fireworks show has been rescheduled for Thursday evening, July 5.
The Fire Marshall and Pasco Fire Rescue will investigate the incident.
