PASCO COUNTY, Fla. - Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with a videotaped sex act in the library at Fivay High School in Pasco County, according to a sheriff's statement.
Deputies say a 17-year-old boy had sex with a 15-year-old girl, reportedly on tables behind some book shelves. Thy say the act was videotaped by a 15-year-old boy and shared via Bluetooth transmission with a female student.
The 17-year-old boy is now charged with lewd or lascivious battery. The student who videotaped the act is charged with transmission of pornography by electronic device.
The incident occurred during school hours.
"Obviously, nobody was paying attention. So it just went on," said one Hudson student.
Word spread fast on social media sites. Most of the references on Twitter are too profane to publish, but one post reads, "this guy will remain a legend at Fivay forever."
One of the main concerns was the fear the video would end up going viral. That's why the school district worked with the Pasco Sheriff's Office to let parents know and send out a message from Fivay's principal.
"Having this thing go viral would have been horrendous, because what we are doing. Being proactive, we are going to send a message to anybody involved who committed a criminal act, they are going to be arrested," said Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco.
As for the media center, we are told changes have been made inside to make sure nothing like this can happen again.
"Those book shelves have been moved over along the wall, so there's nothing obstructing the view," said Pasco school district spokesperson Linda Cobbe.
The Sheriff's office told ABC Action News they feel like they stopped the spread of the video before it got out of control.
