ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - A Pasco County couple has been found nearly four hours away from their home after they went missing Friday night. .
According to deputies, Joan Stump, 88, and her husband, Marvin Stump, 89, were driving to Saint Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport around 8 p.m. Friday night. They were coming from their home in Zephyrhills to pick up their son from the airport who was flying in from Indiana.
Along the way the couple got lost and stopped at the Saint Petersburg Police station near 5 th Avenue and Beach Drive to ask for directions. The couple continued on their way to the airport headed south.
But the Stumps never made it to the airport.
Deputies say the missing couple turned up in Jacksonville after they were involved in a minor accident. Local police recognized the couple’s tag number from broadcasted statewide alerts.
The Stumps were taken to a nearby hospital for observation. Their son is headed to Jacksonville to pick up his parents and bring them home.
The deputies believe the couple got lost on their way to the airport, but it is unclear how they ended up across the state in Jacksonville.
