DADE CITY, Fla. - Pasco County authorities say a Dade City man beat a woman with a large pole following a heated argument Wednesday.
Shane Heath, 23, of 38101 Willingham Drive, #26, in Dade City, is now facing aggravated battery charges.
Deputies say Heath struck a woman on her left thigh and left forearm with a large pole. The victim was taken to an area hospital where doctors preliminarily stated she had a fracture to her left arm along with redness and swelling to her thigh.
The woman reportedly told deputies she was involved in an argument with Heath when he became physically aggressive towards her, hitting her with a pole.
Deputies noted that when they examined the woman, she was swelling in the areas she claimed she was struck. There was also noticeable red marks, deputies said.
The motive for the attack is believed to be retaliation. Deputies say on Tuesday, the alleged victim accidently backed over Heath's dog with her car, causing injury to the dog's paw.
According to an arrest report, when interviewed, Heath reportedly told deputies he intended to break all the windows out of the woman's car because she could not pay for the dog's vet bill. However, they got into an argument first which ended when he attacked the woman with the pole, deputies said.
