23-year-old Pasco bicyclist hit and killed, search is on for driver

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - Florida Highway Patrol investigators are asking the public's help to provide information about a deadly hit and run accident involving an unknown vehicle and a bicycle.

According to reports, 23-year-old Robert Leo Burger III, was traveling south on Fort King Road (CR-41) near Fairview Heights Road in Zephyrhills Friday night shortly before 10:30 p.m.

Troopers say Burger, a Dade City resident, lost control of the bicycle and fell into the roadway.

A vehicle then hit Burger and failed to stop, according to FHP reports.

Burger suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the crash scene.

Any witnesses to the crash or anyone with information on the driver and vehicle are urged to contact Corporal Erik Bromiley by calling the Florida Highway Patrol at 813-631-4020.
