PASCO COUNTY, Fla. - A 13-year-old boy is in critical condition Saturday afternoon after an unfortunate bike ride.
According to Florida Highway Patrol officials, the boy was riding his bicycle along Ranch Road in Pasco County with other bicyclists just after 11 a.m.
The young teen attempted to cross U.S. Highway 19 onto Hammock Road while the light at the intersection was red.
As the boy attempted to cross U.S. 19 an oncoming F-250 was headed down the highway.
Troopers say the boy crossed in front of the truck that was unable to stop before colliding with the teen.
The boy was taken by air to Bayfront Medical Center where he is in critical condition. Troopers were unable to identify the boy at first. He has since been identified and his father has been notified.
Charges are pending while the incident is still under investigation.
