PALM HARBOR, Fla. - Neighbors called for help when they heard noises coming from a nearby Palm Harbor backyard. Members of SPCA Tampa Bay, with the help of the sheriff's office, responded.
Pedro Remon was arrested and charged with animal cruelty after detectives say he beat and strangled his 4-month-old Pit Bull mix after the puppy, named Tita, soiled the floor inside the home.
Remon surrendered the puppy and another dog, a 2-year-old Chihuahua, also named Tita, to SPCA Tampa Bay. The second dog did not show any evidence of physical abuse.
The puppy however had marks on her forehead and bleeding in the white of her eyes caused by the strangulation.
The SPCA says the investigation is remains open.
