PALM HARBOR, Fla. - "Paddy cake, paddy cake baker's man, bake me a cake as fast as you can," read mom Nicole Nugent.
The past month has been a whirlwind for two-year old Ireland Nugent and her family.
"It was hard coming home at first," said her mom.
"Can you pat his hands together? Can you pat them together?" she asked her daughter sitting on the couch with a Curious George book.
"Once it kind of settles down, that's when you kind of get those moments," she said.
Those quiet moments remind Nicole Nugent of April 11.
"I'm finding myself, throughout the day, the last time I was here, even going to bed Saturday night, well, the last time we laid in this bed, she still had legs," she said.
Those moments are fewer and fewer with each passing day, with a good night's sleep for the first time in weeks and with a lot of Play-Doh.
You see it's difficult for her mom and dad to dwell, when Ireland isn't.
"The better she's doing, the better I'm doing," her mom explained.
"I mean, it's kind of hard to be sad when she's like crawling all over," said Ireland’s mom.
And crawling fast.
"She's even doing things, like 'Slow down,' a little bit,” she said.
Which brings us to Ireland's future.
"Now the next thing is actually going over and getting her legs, getting her feet and then seeing her walk for the first time," said dad Jeremiah Nugent.
Her parents have faith that's only another month away.
"All I can say we've got so many positives going forward. That, that's the past," said her dad.
The present is a gift.
"Pad it and prick it and mark it with a B And put it in the oven for baby and me,” read Ireland’s mom.
