Red light cameras coming to Oldsmar in July

The City of Oldsmar is introducing a new red light camera program to catch red-light runners.
According to the city, there were 100 traffic crashes and 35 failures to stop at red lights between November 2010 and November 2011. Officials say an evaluation was performed to determine where the cameras would most likely improve road safety.
Law enforcement will begin issuing warnings to red light violators on July 1st. Citations with fines will begin August 1st.
Locations selected for the program include:
- Tampa Road @ SR 580/State St. West
- Tampa Road @ St. Petersburg Dr. East
- Forest Lakes Blvd/ County Rd 233 @ Tampa Rd.
- Curlew Rd @ Gull Aire Blvd.
