OLDSMAR, Fla. - A family dog that wouldn't stop barking is credited with alerting an Oldsmar husband and wife to fire Monday morning.  The couple and the pet got out of the home safely.

The one-alarm fire broke out around 8 a.m. at 204 Bedford Street.

According to a fire spokesperson, the dog normally barks when neighbors are leaving in the morning.  But this time it was later and the pet wouldn't stop barking.

The husband opened the garage door, saw the flames and called 911.

Smoke from from the flames could be seen for miles.

The house was fully involved when firefighters arrived.

There was immediate word on how the fire may have started.

Helicopter video showed heavy damage to the garage area of the home.
