CLEARWATER, Fla. - A Clearwater cookout turned fatal after an argument ended in a stabbing overnight Tuesday.
Clearwater Police responded to a fight at 226 S. Hillscrest Avenue at 12:22 a.m.
When officers arrived, a group of people were gathered for a cookout, and one of the people there had been stabbed multiple times.
It was determined that a physical fight broke out between 25-year-old David Lee Kilen and 43-year-old Ronald Lefebvre.
Lefebvre walked into the house, grabbed a knife and used it to stab Kilen.
The victim was transported to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police arrested Lefebvre and he has been charged with second degree murder.
The victim's father said his son had returned from fishing around 10:00 p.m., and in a few short hours, he learned that his son was at the hospital after getting stabbed five times.
He said his son's girlfriend tried to take him to the hospital, but somehow the victim fell into a neighbor's yard. The father says his son leaves behind two young children.
Detectives are continuing to conduct interviews.
