CLEARWATER, Fla. - A woman who was hit by a truck during a lane change pulled a knife and went after one of the truck's front tires on Tuesday, according to Clearwater police. She took off, but officers caught up with her.
Angelo Yasparro, 42, was heading westbound in his 2000 Dodge truck in the left turn lane on Court St. just west of Osceola Ave. He decided to change lanes from the left-turn-only lane to the westbound through lane to go toward Clearwater Beach.
He collided with a 2000 Chevy Astro van driven by Theresa D. Rubalcava, 52.
According to a police statement, "The collision angered Rubalcava who stopped and exited her vehicle in the middle of the road of the westbound through lane of Court St. Rubalcava pulled a knife from her pocket, punctured the driver's front tire of Yasparro's truck, and fled the scene."
Patrol units tracked down Rubalcava at 249 Winward Passage and arrested her. She's charged with leaving the scene of a crash with damage, criminal mischief and several narcotic charges.
Yasparro was also cited in connection with the crash.
