CLEARWATER, Fla. - The 2012 Bright House Clearwater Super Boat National Championship and Seafood Festival returns to Clearwater Beach this weekend.
It's jam-packed with family friendly VIP events, a spectacular seafood festival and fireworks show and some of the fastest and largest offshore power boats in the world.
The 2011 Clearwater races saw huge crowds turn out to Clearwater Beach, where an estimated 25,000 people on 2,500 boats lined the beaches of the 2.5-mile-long race course. Beaches were lined 20 deep with beach-going spectators while others watched from the comfort of hotels, restaurants and condos along the beach.
Races start at Pier 60 Sunday at 10 a.m. - some boats are capable of high speeds of up to 180 mph.
