CLEARWATER, Fla. - Clearwater Police Department is taking a social media stand against a new kind of motorized parasailing.
A volunteer for the police department recently shot video of someone auto-parasailing over Clearwater Beach.
Clearwater PD posted the video on their Facebook page advising citizens that the activity is against Clearwater Ordinance 22. 47 (3).
The ordinance says that any form of aircraft is banned from flying over any public beach.
Elizabeth Watts, Clearwater Police Information Officer, said that no one has been hurt by the low-flying craft, but that the department wanted to take proactive measures.
If someone operating the motorized craft is caught flying over a public beach they can be given a fine of $93.
