CLEARWATER, Fla. -

An Exceptional Student Education (ESE) teacher at Skycrest Elementary School in Clearwater was arrested Thursday, accused of abusing two special needs children, ages six and eight.

Detectives say Melanie Jo Fox, 44, kicked and pulled the hair of a 6-year-old girl, hit her with a book, and bound the girl's hands with tape.

She is also suspected of pushing the boy to the ground and binding his hands with a rubber band.

Detectives believe the abuse began in January, and continued through last week.
