CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) lifted water shortage restrictions effective July 1, 2010. 

The new watering schedule from the City of Clearwater allows lawn watering two days per week, before 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m. for all watering sources. Reclaimed customers can water lawns and landscaping on any day, before 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m.

Watering of existing lawns and landscaping (plants and shrubs) from all watering sources (except reclaimed) is limited to twice per week, but not between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.:

  • Wednesday & Saturday - Addresses ending in even numbers or letters A through M
  • Thursday & Sunday - Addresses ending in odd numbers, letters N through Z, mixed, or no street address
  • Reclaimed water can be used any day of the week, but not from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

60-day establishment period for new plant material for lawns (sod, plugs, seeds, and other forms of turf grass):

  • Days 1 -30, any day of the week but not from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Days 31 -60, three days per week:
    • Even-numbered addresses (or letters A - M) on Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday.
    • Odd-numbered addresses (or letters N - Z), mixed, or no street address on Wednesday/Friday/Sunday.

Sprinkling cans, hand-held hose equipped with automatic shut-off nozzle, or low-volume irrigation devices like drip tubing and micro bubblers can be used on any day at any time.

The city no longer restricts the use of fountains, waterfalls, and fish ponds; car washing; pressure washing; fertilizers (when permitted per County ordinance); and, plant chemicals such as insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides.

Hand Watering, low-volume irrigation devices, or drip tubing may be used any day at any time.
