CLEARWATER, Fla. - Just before 7:00 p.m. Sunday night, Clearwater police and firefighters responded to a head on collision at Belcher Road and Sunset Point Road.
According to Elizabeth Watts, spokeswoman for Clearwater police, a van crossed over the median into on coming traffic on Belcher Road.
The van hit another vehicle that was traveling on Belcher Road.
The driver of the van had to he extricated from the vehicle. They had serious injuries and was flown to a local hospital for treatment.
Watts reported that the driver of the second vehicle was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The intersection of Belcher and Sunset Point Road was shutdown for several hours while fire rescue crews responded to the scene.
All lanes were open as of 10:15 p.m. Sunday night.
