CARROLLWOOD, Fla. - Another contender is in town to claim the "best burger" title.
BGR The Burger Joint is now open in Carrollwood, with a unique motif and themed hamburgers such as The Cuban, The Greek, The Wellington, The Southwestern, and The 9 Pounder - which has been featured on The Travel Channel, Food Network, and in an official I.F.O.C. competitive eating contest.
Actual weight including bun and condiments is 15.4 pounds. The burger comes topped with two heads of lettuce, eight tomatoes, three red onions, four whole pickles, and a river of "sauce." It also comes with a complimentary bottle of Maalox. If one person can eat it in one sitting, the entire burger is free.
Typically, The 9 Pounder feeds 10 to 15 people.
Owner Ken Bakunas and General Manager David Hanson joined the ABC Action News morning crew to share a few of their meat creations.
For the holiday season, BGR is serving up the Christmas Burger with beefsteak tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella cheese, along with gingerbread and eggnog milkshakes.
BGR is located at 12913 North Dale Mabry Highway. It is open Monday to Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Call (813) 962-4050 for more information.
