TAMPA - Nearly 4,200 new jobs are headed to Hillsborough County.
That's the bottom-line message from the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation -- a joint task-force committee made up of County Commission Chair Al Higginbotham, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn, Daniel Raulerson, the Mayor of Plant City and Temple Terrace Mayor Joe Affronti, Sr. and others.
"We've got to compete as a region," said Mayor Buckhorn, marveling at the strides made by the committee, including 700 new call center jobs announced recently by One Touch Direct and 500 positions being filled over the next year by Time Warner.
"It's not about Tampa," he said. "It's about what happens in Tampa Bay."
