Woman crashes into telephone pole near Hillsborough homes, dies

PALM RIVER, Fla. - A woman died in the Palm River area after crashing into a telephone pole Tuesday morning.

The fatal crash happened near 78 ^th Street and Paradise Place about 3:15 a.m.

Hillsborough investigators say 29-year-old Gina Balistreri of Wesley Chapel was driving south on 78 ^th Street, and veered of the road for unknown reasons.

She crashed into a telephone pole in front of some homes.  

A neighbor called 911 and the driver was taken to Tampa General Hospital. She died a short time later.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
