THONOTOSASSA - Highway 301 was shutdown in Thonotosassa for hours on Sunday night due to a fatal accident.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue spokeswoman Nacole Revette reported two cars were involved in an accident, resulting in one fatality.

The crash happened around 7:50 p.m. at U.S. 301 and Ohio Avenue.

The driver of the Honda Civic involved died at the scene, while the driver of the other vehicle was taken to Tampa General Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.
