HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY - A tornado moved across the south end of MacDill Air Force Base in South Tampa Tuesday afternoon. There were no reports of injuries.
The National Weather service via MacDill AFB confirmed that a funnel cloud touched down on the base.
A pilot also made a sighting, according to reports.
The warning was issued shortly before 3:30 p.m. after a funnel cloud was spotted south of MacDill.
The warning was lifted shortly before 3:45 p.m.
It's believed the tornado may have been a waterspout that came ashore. A waterspout becomes a tornado when it reaches land.
There was no word on damage.
A second waterspout was also spotted in the South Tampa area and appears to be headed to the Ruskin Area. As of 4:30 p.m. there have been no reports of damage or injuries related to this system.
