TAMPA - Tampa Police have unveiled an all new high-tech phone app available for smart phones on Tuesday morning.
The app, available now, allows people to report crimes anonymously, check out police bulletins, contact school resource officers and more.
With the touch of a couple of finger taps, people can also be put into touch with police to drop those tips off.
Chief Jane Castor says this is a game changer for them.
"This speeds up our investigation, just besides being able to communicate through Facebook and Twitter," Chief Castor said.
It also gives everyday users the opportunity to check out crime bulletins, and in general, police say this gives them access to a section of the population they've been trying to get a hold of.
"As I said, the younger generation they're all used to communicating through social media," Chief Castor said.
Already, Tampa PD has used social media to solve crimes, but this app, they say, takes them to a whole new level.
