TAMPA - From Facebook to Twitter, Instagram to Foursquare, social media is in full force at the Republican National Convention like never before.
Many of those at the RNC have questions and the people in one small room are here to answer them.
"We've had everything from people asking where the best wings are?"
"What restaurants are open?"
"Where's the next Ybor trolley stop?"
"Someone's asked, where can I take the best yoga class in town."
It's Tampa Bay and Company's social media command center, set up just a few blocks from the Forum.
They are monitoring all things Tampa Bay on social media. And while they are staying out of the political talk, they are providing help to anyone who's asking for it.
"Sometimes I kind of takes them back, because they are surprised someone is listening to them," said Kat Lewis, online relations manager with Tampa Bay & Company.
'The Herd' as they are called are also keeping on the latest rumors, including talk a certain quarterback might show up.
"We actually just tweeted Tim Tebow and asked him if he was coming. And if he would stop by the social media command center. So we'll see what happens with that," said Lewis.
Similar command centers were set up at the Super Bowl and Major League Baseball All-Star game this year, but it's the first time one's ever been used at political convention.
"I think it's a neat way to interact with those people and engage with them," said Lewis.
I wanted to test out the social media command center myself, so I sent them a tweet.
"..since the RNC is ending tonight. How Should I spend my Friday," I asked.
I quickly got my answer. A tweet from @visittampabay says "we suggest heading down to Ybor and grabbing a local craft beer from the Tampa Bay brewing company."
That sounds good to me.
