TAMPA, Fla. - A five-day camp for girls is being held at Hillsborough Community College in Brandon. Camp hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.
Twenty-two girls enrolled in the camp where they use math and science while learning how to program robots. The camp is also aimed at teaching girls about engineering, design and career opportunities.
Those students also go on a field trip to a Publix dairy where they see technology in action. Automated machines at the dairy perform similar actions that the girls learn at camp.
One of the leaders of the camp, Marilyn Barger, says it's an all girls camp because girls work together better rather than a group that includes boys.
