Man found dead in traffic crash was murdered, deputies say

TAMPA - Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a Temple Terrace man found in a car crash Monday night, because they say it wasn’t the wreck that killed him.

When authorities found 26-year-old Sean Buchanan in his vehicle, they determined that he had trauma to his upper body that wasn’t consistent with a car crash.

Around 1:36 Tuesday morning, a passerby reported that he spotted Sean Buchanan’s body in his Toyota Corolla behind the Regency Square Mall Shopping Center in a wooded area.

Detectives say that Buchanan had gone to the movies earlier that night.

Authorities are asking that anyone who was in the area who saw the victim or the victim’s vehicle between 9:50 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Monday call Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200.
