HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. - A major crash involving four tractor trailers made a mess of traffic Wednesday morning on southbound I-75 just south of Bruce B. Downs.
The crash occurred around 5 a.m. when an unidentified vehicle changed lanes and cut off one of the trucks.
To avoid a collision, the semi driver swerved and hit a concrete barrier wall. The impact tore off the trailer's rear axles, according to the Highway Patrol.
Following that, three other tractor trailer vehicles collided with the axles.
One minor injury was reported along with a minor fuel spill.
The crashes shut down all but one lane of southbound I-75. The result was a major backup that stretched all the way to Highway 54.
All lanes were reopened shortly before 9 a.m.
