Looking for a job in Hillsborough County? Streetlinks is hiring 50 new positions

TAMPA - Looking for a job?  If you are, there may be one waiting for you in Hillsborough County as a national company announced Friday that they are offering up jobs. 

The people at StreetLinks say they are trying to fill 50 positions for their brand new, 77,000 square foot, Hillsborough County office; all this after they just recently hired almost 100 employees.

“It's just the perfect business climate, the perfect employment climate, the perfect economic climate for us,” said Steve Haslam, CEO of StreetLinks.

Haslam says it was a no-brainer to pick this are for his company’s next expansion move.  As of right now, they are hiring for 50 new positions in quality control and customer service with a potential for hundreds more hires in the coming years.  It's job creation that fits well with Florida Governor Rick Scott’s push for expanding the workforce.

"We're headed in the right direction,” said Scott.  “We will clearly get to 700,000 jobs in the next 7 years.  We had the second biggest drop in unemployment in the country. We are headed in the right direction.”

New unemployment numbers, released Friday, show Florida seeing a slight increase in the unemployment rate.  That’s up .2% to 8.8% overall.

"Even though unemployment has come down, even though was have generated a lot of jobs in the last 18 months, there is still a lot of work to be done.  We still have almost 800,000 people out of work," said Gov. Scott.

But on a bright note, the state has statistically seen a positive annual job growth rate for 24 straight months and companies like StreetLinks that are willing to continue to add jobs each year will help chip away at the unemployment numbers in the Sunshine State.
