Body found near Riverview school is that of missing 10-year-old girl

RIVERVIEW, Fla. - A body was found in a pond near a Riverview school Monday evening has been identified as 10-year-old Jeniffer Caballero.  Authorities say she had Down Syndrome and went missing early Monday afternoon.

Hillsborough Sheriff David Gee made the announcement at 6:45 p.m. news conference.

The girl, described as Hispanic 5 ft., small build, black hair with pigtails, was last seen around 1 p.m. walking away from Rogers Middle School at 11910 Tucker Road in Riverview.

She was wearing wearing a turquoise shirt with pink flowers and black pants.

The school was placed on modified lockdown and students were released on a controlled basis, but there was no sign of Jennifer.

The child had very limited communication skills in Spanish only.  She will answer to the name of "Jenny."

K9's and aviation were used in the search. A reverse 911 "A Child is Missing" call has been sent out. Dive teams were sent out to search ponds in the area.
